Irrawaddy Taste of Burma is a family owned and operated restaurant featuring Burmese cuisine from Co-Owner & Chef Banny Hong. Originally from Burma (Myanmar), Banny wanted to create a space to share his family’s most treasured recipes and the time-honored dishes from the region. The cuisine may be influenced by its neighboring nations (China, India, Laos, and Thailand), but its own unique flavor definitely stands on its own. The majority of the dishes are prepared from scratch using raw ingredients and focusing on healthy, light dishes. Always great for sharing amongst family and friends.

With some ingredient adjustments, like removing fish paste and adding more vegetarian friendly, vegan, and gluten-free options.

A Taste of Burma

Join us as we bring Burma to Southern California with the help of photographer, David Heath and painter, Chari Baier. David Heath has traveled to Burma almost a dozen times to capture its most stunning remote landscapes as well as its friendly inhabitants. While, Chari Baier recreates some of David’s beautiful depictions through the texture of paint; emphasizing the raw emotion and energy.

Chef Banny has been serving Orange County with the enduring cooking traditions and truly authentic flavors of Burma, that has been very much a part of his childhood. For this special occasion, we will be displaying David’s photographs, Chari’s paintings, and Chef Banny will be curating authentic dishes from his place of birth, Burma. The event will start at 6pm with a cocktail hour and meet and greet with the artists David Heath and Chari Baier. Seating for dinner is at 7pm and will include salad, appetizers, rice & one main course of your choosing. David’s book “Burma: An Enchanted Spirit” will be available for sale and after dinner he will be signing copies of his books.
